After much consideration and review, Carlyle has decided to drop Zimride as rideshare option. We gave the platform our all and tried hard to market and promote the service within our community. Enrollment was very low and we felt it best to go in a different direction, to better serve our residents and workers. The last day for the Carlyle Zimride discount is October 31st, 2019.

Alexandria City Council approved making changes to on-street parking spaces in two areas adjacent to Carlyle. The first area is on the south side of Eisenhower Avenue along the Hooff’s Run area and the other location is along Jamieson Avenue from Holland Lane to West Street.

The Carlyle Council created our first ever Park(ing) Day ‘Parklet’ in front of Sweet Fire Donna’s. We had over 250 patrons visit our parklet and check out our reclaimed parking spaces. Park(ing) Day is an annual event that takes place the third Friday in September, to help spread awareness about other options of transportation besides single occupancy vehicles. The Alexandria Police Department, Casa Chirilagua and NOVA Alexandria Campus are co-hosting a Community Festival (Dia del Nino/Day of the Child) at Northern Virginia Community College on September 28th from 11AM – 2PM.

Our new neighbors – The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children are hosting a fundraiser for the 2nd year – A Culinary Tour of Old Town. This event will be held on November 7th and include 12 restaurants from Carlyle all the way down to the waterfront, and you can eat and drink at all of them. There are also VIP tickets that will allow you to attend the reception at their headquarters followed by a VIP after party with all the chefs and sponsors and live music

In response to a 2017 Virginia Law, AlexRenew is implementing a program called RiverRenew to reduce the discharge of millions of gallons of sewage mixed with rainwater into local waterways each year. The RiverRenew program includes the construction of a tunnel system to capture the sewage mixed with rainwater at the locations where it currently overflows (called outfalls).

The Send a Kid to Camp Golf Classic has been established to continue to send Alexandria City youth to summer camp. Your support for this event and the youth of Alexandria is greatly appreciated

On August 19th, Sweet Fire Donna’s will be hosting a fundraiser for Ana Gomez. Ana and her family has been working for the restaurant group for 20 years, and she recently has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
