Long Bridge Project

The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority’s Long Bridge Project is a 1.8-mile rail improvement designed to ease one of the East Coast’s most significant rail bottlenecks. Construction is now underway on a new rail bridge over the Potomac River. As part of the initial phase, crews are installing four test piles at key locations to ensure the bridge’s foundation is strong and reliable. These test piles allow engineers to confirm the proper size and depth before full construction begins. The test locations include one in Virginia, one in Washington, DC along the shoreline, and two within the Potomac River.
