Rive Renew Pendleton Street Construction

Pendleton Street site construction footprint expanding at the intersection of Pendleton and N Union Streets

RiverRenew crews are getting ready to connect into Outfall 001 to support a healthier Potomac River!

Since 2019, the expansion of the Pendleton Steet site construction footprint has been planned and coordinated with the community and City of Alexandria.  Until now construction activities have been east of Union Street allowing RiverRenew crews to maintain access to the public right-of-way and Oronoco Bay Park.  As we approach the final phases of construction, our construction footprint will be slightly expanded into Oronoco Bay Park and Pendleton/Union Streets.

Here's what to expect at the Pendleton Street site from January 17, 2024 through the end of the year:

  • Pedestrian Impacts: Temporary relocation of the pedestrian crosswalk at Pendleton and N Union Streets

  • Cyclist and Vehicle Impacts: Minor reduction in the shared travel lane width for east and west bound traffic

  • Parking Impacts: Restricted public parking near the intersection of Pendleton and N Union Streets

  • Boardwalk Closure: Closure of the boardwalk and walkway at the end of Pendleton Street within Oronoco Bay Park

  • Sheeting Installation: Some noise and vibration associated with the installation of sheeting along the shoreline
