Major Parades Impacting Traffic December 3rd
Two major parades on Saturday, December 3, 2022, create the foundation of Alexandria’s Biggest Holiday Weekend: the 51st Annual Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk Parade, which kicks off in the morning, and the 22nd Annual Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights sponsored by Amazon, which includes waterfront festivities starting in the afternoon and the parade in the evening.
Children’s Holiday Toy and Gift Card Drive
The Alexandria Domestic Violence Program and Sexual Assault Center are preparing for their annual Children’s Holiday Toy and Gift Card Drive. This event helps make the holiday season a special time for domestic and sexual violence survivors and their children.
They are accepting donations November 14 – December 2 and their office at 123 North Pitt Street, Alexandria, VA 22314.
Del Ray Shop Small Crawl
Shop small and shop sooner this holiday season! To celebrate Small Business Saturday, the shops of Del Ray will host a Shop Small Crawl on Saturday November 26th from 10am to 6pm, featuring special promotions, giveaways, and other holiday surprises.

Pedals 'N' Pints
Are you a bicyclist who loves beer and lives in the DMV? Port City has teamed up with their neighbors on Wheeler Avenue, Handy Bikes, to bring you Pedals 'N' Pints SHORT ride on November 12!
Art on the Avenue Rescheduled
Art on the Avenue was postponed and will be held on November 12, 2022 from 10AM to 6PM. The 27th annual arts festival held in the Del Ray features more than 350 juried artists, from quilters to card-makers to cartographers, displaying their one-of-a-kind wares.
Tasting Room Reopens
After a two-and-half year hiatus, The Tasting Room (1602 King Street) has reopened in Old Town.
The 2,500-square-foot restaurant is owned by Lorien Hotel & Spa, which also owns BRABO (1602 King Street) next door. Both restaurants are run by Executive Chef Fredy Garciaguirre, who was promoted from executive sous chef over the summer.
Speed Limits to be Reduced on some Alexandria Streets
City Manager Jim Parajon approved the board's recommendation to reduce speed limits on two streets as well as implement 15 mph school zone speed limits on five streets throughout Alexandria.
VRE Free Through November 5
Great news! Virginia Railway Express (VRE) passengers will continue to ride free between the rail system’s six northern-most stations until service resumes on Metrorail’s Blue Line, scheduled for November 5, 2022.
Alexandria Turkey Trot
Join in Alexandria’s favorite Thanksgiving tradition- the 47th Turkey Trot 5 Mile Race held on November 24. This premiere Atlantic Regional Thanksgiving day race is brought to you by the Del Ray Business Association and the DC Road Runners. Alexandria Film Festival
The Alexandria Film Festival (AFF) announced it will screen more than 50 films in person over three days, November 11-13, at the AMC Hoffman theaters and The Lyceum in Old Town, Alexandria. Created by a diverse group of local and international artists, the films represent a variety of genres and tackle topics ranging from serious social issues like discrimination and racism to crowd-pleasers like drama, romance, sci-fi, comedy, and horror.

Art on the Avenue
he 27th annual arts festival held in the Del Ray features more than 350 juried artists, from quilters to card-makers to cartographers, displaying their one-of-a-kind wares. Arrive with an appetite and grab a bite from 20+ food vendors and set to the soundtrack of live music along the avenue.
The event will be held on October 1, 2022 from 10 AM - 6 PM. Art on the Avenue takes place on Mount Vernon Avenue, between Hume and Bellefonte Avenues. Parking is extremely limited. Englehardt Lane from Jamieson Avenue to End from October 3 to October 10 9:00 am to 3:30 pm
Jamieson Avenue from Andrew’s Lane to Holland Lane from October 4 to October 11 9:00 am to 3:30 pm
John Carlyle Street from Eisenhower Avenue to Duke Street from October 6 to October 13 9:00 am to 3:30 pm
The work will occur in 3 block sections with the intent to complete each section within 4 days, excluding weekends, weather permitting. Scheduling is highly dependent on weather conditions.
